About 15 years ago, I and a couple of young men – one from NYC the other from San Francisco – attempted to create a digital magazine on CD-ROM about the underground music scene in NYC. That project later evolved into a broader vision that included a variety of artistic forms that we called Metrozine. The idea was a decade or two ahead of its time. The partnership dissolved, and we each went our separate ways – but for me the idea clung to my heart and so I established the domain name Urbanesque.com

For years Urbanesque has been a warehouse for some of my projects, and a launching pad for several others, including:

Working Artists LLC [http://workingartistsonline.com]

Empty & Meaningless: the Box Project [http://empty.urbanesque.com]

My own art [http://adriennefritze.com]

and many more including Black Ink Mysteries; HandyWomen A-Z; Razor Wire Phoenixes; Journey to Freedom

Now I’m reverting the website to my original intention which was to provide a space for emerging artists, creatives, social entrepreneurs, community activists, and innovators to share their lives and work in a city-centric format that defines the character and meat of their urban home through the work they do.

If you’re interested in participating in this definition I invite you to do so in a variety of ways:

by commenting on the blogsites hosted by urbanesque.com, as well as on urbanesque itself;

by applying to have your blogsite hosted here;

by suggesting ways of expanding and improving what is offered here.

This is an experiment in fulfillment and meaningful change for me, and I look forward to your contribution and involvement.

To art, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship!

Adrienne.
